Episode #43: You are not alone

The book of Lamentations relives the pain of Israel's darkest hour. It expresses the deep pathos of shame and the insecurity of a broken covenant. So what of our laments? Should we emulate this ancient sorrow, or keep our distance? What can we learn from this crushing covenant cry?

Episode #42: An absent author

Habakkuk is one of the smallest and most obscure prophets of the Old Testament. So how should we read the words of a man about whom we know almost nothing? Does Habakkuk really matter? Can't God speak to each of us in our own way through these words? Isn't it just futile to reach back into ancient history and attempt to grasp an absent author?

Two prophets, each responding to rage, illuminate the shadowy places of our souls, especially those where bitterness lays its poisonous spawn. What should we do in the face of a world torn apart by conflict and scarred by its wounds? Can a third prophet, Zephaniah, help us?
